Get-A-Way Weekend

We just returned from a wonderful, restful trip to Fredericksburg...one of our favorite spots to visit. The colors were out of this world and even though it was the first day of hunting season, the deer were plentiful and friendly. We stayed at a quaint bed and breakfast spot named Morning Star Ranch. I highly recommend it to anyone that would enjoy a peaceful getaway. It is located 7 miles north of Fredericksburg on the Llano highway.

The scenery was outstanding, as usual. The rural area throughout the Hill Country is so much more developed than our home area, but we still had the country feel and were close enough to town to run in for shopping and sightseeing. But we still had the openness to sit on the front porch and watch the deer come in for grazing. The fun part was the cattle that free roams the area.

Another great surprise was running in to Catherine Davis, a friend through Delta Kappa Gamma, at the grocery story. She invited us to her house to watch the Texas Tech/UT game with her and her husband George. She had Taco Soup ready and we watched the game in between all the visiting. Their new home is absolutely beautiful.

Benny even had the chance to visit old friends in the pig business, friends that he met when purchasing pigs for our kids to show in stock shows. We even bought a piglet for a friend's son and brought him home in a cage in the back of our suburban. Now if that is not true devotion to a spouse, I don't know what else to do. Of course, Benny is well-known for carrying a cage in the back of our suburban (completely lined with heavy duty drop clothes, of course) padded with hay for special goats or other animals
